The NSc3000 Network Storage Controller

The NSc3000 simplifies user access to SANs, lowers storage management costs, and provides the first universal solution for serving block data in file format. Requiring just 5U or 8.75 inches of standard 19" rack space, this breakthrough network storage controller enables enterprises to utilize the file service and file sharing capabilities of the NAS architecture without requiring disk subsystems dedicated to the NAS server. It can be used with any SAN storage subsystem, with multiple storage pools and with heterogeneous storage media - all industry firsts.

NSc3000V Network Storage Controller with ServerGuardV Software

The NSc3000V platform is the high-availability (HA) version of the NSc3000 Network Storage Controller, the first solution to provide seamless Network Attached Storage (NAS) file services for any Storage Area Network (SAN). Consisting of two Auspex NSc3000 controllers linked by Auspex ServerGuardV software, the NSc3000V platform offers a highly available, cost-effective means of serving files in a SAN environment.

In addition to clustering the two NSc3000 controllers and providing automatic controller failover in the event of a system failure, the NSc3000V system maximizes uptime with features that include:

  • Failover of malfunctioning components, including power supplies, NIC cards and fibre channel host bus adapters (HBAs)
  • Load balancing capabilities between the NIC cards, the HBAs and the twodata paths that each controller provides to the SAN disk arrays
  • Zero-downtime rolling upgrades and maintenance, provided by manual failover and failback capability
  • Mirrored virtual partitions between disaster-tolerant systems (software RAID for mirroring between multiple SAN devices, even if they're from multiple vendors)
  • Remote mirroring for near-instant recovery from local disasters such as fires, made possible by the ability to situate the system's two controllers up to 500 meters apart
  • Optional geographic data replication over LANs, WANs or the Internet for wide-area disaster recovery
  • Snapshots and NDMP backup for data protection
  • ECC memory for memory error protection
  • A journaling file system for fast reboots
